  • Charcoal Portrait 2-day Workshop with Isabella Allis
     April 9, 2022 - April 10, 2022
     9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Experience the dynamic and rich medium of Charcoal which allows you to create portraits that seem three-dimensional!

Join our workshop where a photo reference will be supplied allowing you to focus on the sequential steps of creating a powerful charcoal portrait.

You will learn how to block in areas of value, capturing areas of general form, and then gradually refine specific features of your subject, ending up with an expressive work with a strong likeness.

This workshop will also look at methods of measurement, relative distances, plumb lines, finding angles, proportion, the effects that light and shade have on 3 dimensional form and communicating texture as relates to portraiture.

We will look at charcoal as a medium and the sequential steps needed to achieve the best results.
