In his  two-day workshop with Botanical artist Louise Saunders you will explore composition, detailed and refined drawing techniques, watercolour techniques for colour mixing, layering, and blending using a limited watercolour palette.

You will finish the two-day workshop with a beautiful painting of a botanical specimen. An excellent introductory opportunity to watercolours, or a refresher.

In this workshop participants will learn the basics for drawing and painting with watercolour.

For ALL skill levels.

This workshop would be of great benefit to the beginner who has basic drawing and colour mixing experience through to the more experienced person who wants to achieve more detail in their work and a professional look.

Subject matter to draw will be provided or you can bring your own.

MATERIALS

Any photos of fungi you have, leaf litter, moss lichen, gum leaves or gum nuts (small ones)

Acid Free Watercolour paper, HOT PRESS, 300gsm – A4 or A5 (Recommended Brands: Fabriano Artistico, Arches or Saunders Waterford).

Watercolour Paints: bring those that you usually work with.

Paint brushes: We will need a fine point. Louise recommends Winsor & Newton Cotman or Sceptre Gold II series 101 Sizes 00, 1, 3, 5. For budget brushes – Burrows Round Taklon 0,1, 2.

Graphite pencils: “F” preferred

Eraser:  Soft white plastic eraser

Drawing paper: Cartridge is fine or bring along your sketchbook

Transfer paper or Tracing paper
