Watercolour Portraits
This workshop will be focusing on the eyes. Techniques include a combination of washes, layering and dry brush techniques
Attendees to bring along the following materials:
Watercolour Paints Colours (brand not essential) but David uses Winsor & Newton and Schmincke.
– Paynes Grey
– Sepia
– Burnt Umber
– Caput Mortuum
– English Venetian Red
– Gold brown
– Magnesium Brown
– Quinacridon Gold
– Titanium White
Watercolour Brushes David uses a Winsor & Newton squirrel quill, 2 flats 1/2 and 1/4 inch, and a tiny detail brush “000”.
Not essential people have exactly the same, please bring whatever brushes you have and love.
– A rag
– Small pad of watercolour paper for testing colours (ideally 300 GSM)
David will supply the portrait outline on paper and reference materials.
